Why do people use technologies that are said to be "flimsy"
I was reading this article: How Skype does, and doesn’t, work | ZDNet
I think I recall reading a few post on here about someone "saved thousands" by recommending Skype as an alternative to their company. Could it simply be cost effective? The article says that the Skype infrastructure relies on a P2P network that uses these "super nodes" which are, simply put computers that aren't running a firewall or NATing and are used for storing credentials of the Skype users and logging.
