Beware of Robert Half Technology

So I got a call saying that they found my resume online and wanted to talk to me. So I called them back and found it very odd the lady wanted an interview right away without telling me what jobs they had available.

Plus they told me that I did not have to wear full interview attire. So that threw me off. Also, In the email that they wrote they wanted an updated resume, my social security card, as well as my drivers license? Those three things put up a red flag in my mind.

I told them before finding out all this that I was in a 2 month contract position with ____ company. I hope that they don't come back to bite me for not taking the interview and telling my company that I currently work for that I am bad.

The recent company that I joined for the 2 month contract has many opportunities after I have my contract done, so I can keep getting contracts and eventually go full time.

I made sure to check the reviews. After seeing 1/5 starts consistently, that gave me another red flag. Well, lets just say I cancelled the interview via email and I am not showing up.

Beware you guy's before you go to an interview. Make sure you research the company and have the person actually talk to you about the jobs.

I imagine they wanted those items at the interview so that they could perform a background check on you. I have heard positives and negatives about Robert Half but they are a legitimate recruiter.

Could be a clueless recruiter or an identity thief.

I've gotten a job through Robert Half before. Just do your due diligence with any company, check the website, the physical address, and ask around with other people in town, if they're aware of the company.

A legitimate company would need to verify your identity for tax purposes, and to make sure you're legally authorized to work ... but I would be wary about handing out any information about myself.

    Look twice, jump once.

RHT - or any employer - needs your driver's license and social security card so they can process you through the federal e-verify system to prove you are legally allowed to work in the US. This has to be done within 3 days of your being hired. Being 'hired' by RHT doesn't mean they will be paying you immediately, they probably have to place you first, but they have to get all of the paperwork out of way as soon as possible.

They need your resume because they are a staffing firm and they will be selling you to a client based on your resume. Individual experiences vary with RHT, just like they do with Kforce or TekSystems, but they are a legitimate company.

I apply for a job a while back through a recruiter near where I worked at the time. I got a call from the recruiter, and keep in mind I had my clearance at the time, but the recruiter insisted on getting my SS# to give to the "security officer" to check my clearance, and they wouldn't even send my resume over w/o that information. I told the guy I will talk to her directly and NOT him.

The girl called, left a message, and I didn't get it till a few hours later. I called her back, left a message, told her I would try to call her back on Monday. Called on monday, still no answer, so I left the ball in her court, told her when I was going to be available. Obviously, got nothing back from her. The recruiter suddenly become unavailable when I tried to call, and I e-mail him to let him know of the situation, got zero back from him. At that point, I figured things out and moved on.

Personally I avoid recruiters like the plague. Go directly to real companies and not through recruiters or 3rd party websites
