If this is in the wrong section i'm sorry.
My girlfriend is currently 5 months pregnant and its been a rocky road these past months with working and going to school. I recently applied for WGU but wasn't accepted and now i'm in the process of finishing my Network Specialist Degree at the local community college. In my spare time i am currently studying for Certs, However upon completing the course the classes are scattered through 3 Different counties which will make traveling a hassle going back and forth and here and there every day.

The lady from the staffing agency called me with a 2 week assignment that could turn long term if they liked me but its an hour commute and the work schedule interferes with my schooling hours. I know bringing this baby into the world is going to require a job to raise it and take care of it, but i also want to obtain my degree so it could probably land me a better standard of living than what i currently have now.

Not sure I can be any help- but I know what you're going through.

When I was going to school, I had a child sophmore year of college. My main goal (aside from family) was school cause i knew it was required to get me places. So stayed full time (a few semesters dropping below full time via dropping classes ) going for my bachelors, while working 2-3 jobs at any given time at restaurants. My 4 year degree became a 5.5 year degree, but I have my degree in MIS- couple certs, and starting my masters in august now that my life has since calmed down.

My vote is do what you need to stay in school- in the long run its the most important of those options. Dropping out of school to try a job with a 30 minute commute, that may or may not be permanent seems like a very large risk, not one i would take with a baby on the way.

    Either way, best of luck.

It really depends on what kind of money you have. Do you have parents that can help you with money, until you get your degree?

My Network & Security Blog with a focus on Fortigate. New post on how to create a fortigate ssl vpn.

So would you be quitting your full time job for a 2 week assignment that *might* go long term? I wouldn't advise that, since in 4 months you'll be bringing a baby into this world, and what if after 2 weeks they don't keep you and your jobless?

I understand you want to get your degree, however a lot of responsibility, time and money comes with a baby. You may need to put your degree on hold in the meantime, and find a more permanent position.

Also, what was WGU's reasoning for not accepting you? I never had any issues...

Didnt pass math and the essay. They told me to reapply in 3 months. Currently i have no job. I repair computers on the side that brings in an ok amount of money but not enough to support no child
