Does anyone here know how prevalent using scripting is when pen testing?

Scripts are like recipes. Once you have a recipe you like, you write it down; there is no need to keep reinventing it, unless you like typing in the same commands over and over and over. Committing your pen tests to a set of easily-runnable, time-saving scripts is usually the best way to go.
