These steps helped me to get ready for Network+ & pass
I wrote today and passed flying colors...
You have to know the OSI inside and out.. here are a couple of things that helped me remember what protocols go with which layer:
Transport Protocols: STUN - which stands for: SPX, TCP,UDP,NetBEUI.
Network Protocols: BORIII(s) the s is silent (easier to remember BORIIIS with 3 I's than BORIII...) - which stands for: BGP, OSPF, RIP, ICMP, IPX & IP.
Reading the 8 Steps for Network Troubleshooting, just KISS it (Keep It Simple Studid!)...
You can read the "outlined" steps, here they are in laymans terms:
1) What is the problem?
2) Where is the problem?
3) What happened?
4) What could've caused this to happen?
5) Let's try to fix it with this
6) Test it.. did that fix it?
7) Is everything else ok, or did the fix do something elsewhere?
8 ) Document it ( if required ).
Lastly, for the night prior to writing the exam:
Take the night off. If you don't know it by now, you're not going to know it. Your brain needs to be rested for the exam.
It worked for me, perhaps it'll work for you
