S/MIME and PGP

Which provides greater security, S/MIME or PGP? I would think it is PGP, technically, but because more people use S/MIME, perhaps it is that?

Is it OK to ask questions like this in this forum? I do it when I run across conflicting answers in differnt sources, or when the logic truly escapes me. I try not to overdo it.

Thanks

PGP and S/MIME are both crypto systems that support multiple encryption algorithms, depending on the implementation/product. So it depends primarily on which algorithms are in use.

Ok, and encouraged, that it what the forums are for. As long as you don't include exact text/questions, just ask the technical question, exactly like you are doing already.
