Does the CCNA Voice cover the full blown call manager at all? I just got this job and i've already setup a dozen UC500 systems and they are easy compared to call manager where I am lost! should I go ahead and write the ccna voice and start on the ccnp voice material for call manager stuff? can anyone suggest a good book?

I havent taken the exam, but I have read the new 640-461 CCNA Voice exam guide from cisco press and there is a lot of CUCM 8. You need to be able to do everything in CUCM as you can in CME. Also covers Mobility, Native Presence, Extension Mobility, Class of Service (calling search space and partitions) as well as Unity Connection.
Safari Books online offers a 10 day free trial. The 640-461 book that isnt released until August is available as a rough cut and aside from some minor details, its the finished product.
I used it to read through the book and then cancelled the trial. It's actually a pretty decent service for Cisco Press stuff. I will be signing up for it again when the books have actually been published. In order to read rough cuts its $45 a month in comparison to $24, and they apparently have some plans as low as $9.99/month
