Registering an account at an employer's/recruiter's website to apply for a job

I've been doing this previously, although it is quite tedious when trying to apply to many positions. Even worse, some of the websites don't provide any encryption when entering in the account information.
My question is, do you register an account on an employer's/recruiter's website (when it's required to apply to the job), or do you avoid the hassle (example, too time consuming, lack of encryption, etc...)?
I've been applying for IT jobs since April and haven't had much luck, but I don't plan on giving up (don't really have a choice to give up, honestly).

Never hurts to spend a few minutes registering. -
