GBIC Question (3550) WS-G5483
flipmad
I just plugged 1000 Base-T WS-G5483 GBIC's. The logs recognized the GBICS
00:09:43: %GBIC_1000BASET-6-GBIC_1000BASET_DEFAULT_CONFIG: 1000-BaseT GBIC modul
e is detected in Gi0/1. Speed and duplex will be autonegotiated
00:10:01: %GBIC_1000BASET-6-GBIC_1000BASET_DEFAULT_CONFIG: 1000-BaseT GBIC modul
e is detected in Gi0/2. Speed and duplex will be autonegotiated
00:10:09: %GBIC_1000BASET-6-GBIC_1000BASET_DEFAULT_CONFIG: 1000-BaseT GBIC modul
e is detected in Gi0/3. Speed and duplex will be autonegotiated
00:10:16: %GBIC_1000BASET-6-GBIC_1000BASET_DEFAULT_CONFIG: 1000-BaseT GBIC modul
e is detected in Gi0/4. Speed and duplex will be autonegotiated
00:10:24: %GBIC_1000BASET-6-GBIC_1000BASET_DEFAULT_CONFIG: 1000-BaseT GBIC modul
e is detected in Gi0/5. Speed and duplex will be autonegotiated
Even in the show interface, I am showing 1000BaseT module (WS-G5483) in GBIC slot
But if I try to plug a working cable or ethernet loopback plug into the port, I dont get anything
Currently, I have a ethernet loopback plug into interface gig0/1 and it is down/down
GigabitEthernet0/1 unassigned YES unset down down
Running the following IOS
flash:c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-22.EA4/c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-22.EA4.bin
What am I missing here?

I guess it was my loopback plug.. It works at 100, but when I put it into Gbit ports it doesnt recognize it. I used a cross over cable from a working Gbic port to the GBIC and it came up
