ArcServe 2000 modifying jobs... can't see the changes ?

I read the manual but I can't tell how to ensure my modification are saved.
I've right clicked on the job and then made my changes but I can't tell how you save the modifications
I tired file and save and then saved the file over the file called fullbackup.
my experience is with backup exec but this old server has arcserve 2000 on it and it's never been an issue until now when the data being backed up is too big for the tape we have.
Does anyone know if Arcserve only checks the settings when the job is run or why I can't see the changes I've made ?
