Of course, I also found out about the Book of the Day deal recently so I feel kinda dumb for buying the Switch Kindle version now. icon_lol.gif

I hadn't come across this previously. Thanks!
They have some really good stuff up there occasionally, but it often repeats. Today's book is really good, it's the new Cisco Firewalls book that was just published in June. I haven't seen it before in the rotation, and jumped on it as soon as I realized what it was.

Did the same thing at 12:06am. :) I wasn't sure if my PC clock was off and it was yesterday's deal in the last few minutes. I read some glowing reviews for the book.

ETA: My wife has the Nook Color and I, the Ipad 2. I started reading technical books on her Nook previous to owning the Ipad. Its a fine device for reading, the only trouble I found was going over diagrams and what not. The Nook is really made to fit paperback books perfectly, which it does. With the somewhat larger format of technical books, I felt it wasn't a great fit. I went with an Ipad as opposed to an Android device based on the form factor and aspect ratio. The other devices felt like an 8.5x14 tablet (elongated for widescreen video) to me as opposed to the more square format of the Ipad. Drawbacks are of course flash and the display being more geared for general computer work as opposed to some thing like e-ink.
Work in progress: picking up Postgres, elastisearch, redis, Cloudera, & AWS.
Next up: eventually the RHCE and to start blogging again.

I prefer physical books but I recently purchased the latest Kindle 6" to supplement my physical books. I find that when I want to read in the bed, while traveling, etc, it's much easier to read on the Kindle. When at home in my office I just use the physical books. I do buy both the physical book and Kindle version, which increases my costs but I love the convenience.

I find this very handy for studying for security certs. Right now I've got Darril Gibson's book and the Sybex Security+ Review Guide in both paper book and Kindle version so it's easier to get in study time.

But the biggest reason I bought the Kindle to go with paper books is for the CISSP I will be studying for shortly. With the amount of information I will need to read and digest, it will be much easier having the Kindle in addition to the physical book.
Have: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, eJPT, GCIA, GSEC, CCSP, CCSK, AWS CSAA, AWS CCP, OCI Foundations Associate, ITIL-F, MS Cyber Security - USF, BSBA - UF, MSISA - WGU
Currently Working On: Python, OSCP Prep
    Next Up: OSCP
Studying: Code Academy (Python), Bash Scripting, Virtual Hacking Lab Coursework
