Well, got referred here by stevelord icon_cheers.gif. I see steve is on here posting lol.

Anyway I was looking at taking school online (2 kids, another on the way, wife, 50 hour work weeks closest college is 45 minutes away). I was checking out WGU.

What I'm really interested in is Security. But not sure if the class is for me or not. As far as experience in the computer world goes, Certified for repair, been working on computers on the side since 2000, I've run my own servers out of my house, game servers, file servers on linux (love linux since i got into it a few years ago). Worked on a lot of stuff at the local dead end factory I work in.

As for college, I've been to baker college. It was ok worked my arse off. But i had this terrible comp 101 teacher eh no direction would teach us stuff for comp 102 (was a really old lady half with it). Was kind of a "ok" experience dropped after a year because I was young wanted to party never finished.

I went back to school with gatlin online through the local college for web design. Now that put a really bad taste in my mouth about online school. I was blowing through all of it then hit java, not to bad but I had questions etc. Only replies i ever got back from that terrible school was "GOOGLE IT" LOL wth. Even the problem with the lesson i was facing did not make any sense at all even showed it to another person that knew quite a bit about java and he said the same thing. So finally I got past the first "mentor" and on to a "real teacher". The guy sends me a email back telling me basicly to learn how to read, I reported him because he's supposed to help, I mean I don't expect stuff handed to me but hell he wouldn't even answer my question. Basicly at the end he just made a threat to have me failed. Local college only had them for one year then switched to another service guess they were having tons of complaints.

So I'm curious also how WGU or maybe some other colleges online people might recommend handle things? When you have questions and are trying to understand stuff does someone actually work with you?

Anyway sorry for blabbing. My gatlin online experience left me feeling that all online schools are the same.

Anyway some advice would be great.

Also recently I did two interviews for tech support got offered both jobs, but at the time they were just to far away.
