Are you referring to Windows updates for your host machine or your VM's? If it's the VM's and the chapter is about WSUS, you should complete the chapter as WSUS is a fairly important topic for all these exams.

What exactly is the problem you are facing? Is it the huge number of updates?

Yea, I'm talking about the number of updates for the VM's. They are taking forever, but it wouldn't be bad if I had a WSUS server pushing updates instead of all my servers going out and getting the updates individually. My host system is fully patched and A-Ok.

You should have a WSUS server in the lab. Is the chapter specifically asking you to download all the updates? Thing with the VM's is since you'll need to tear them down and build new ones, it's just pointless to fully patch each one of them. Perhaps do the critical and security updates for now and move on. TBH, I have never patched my VM's after I moved on from the WSUS chapters.

Yea, I think I'm going to move on. I was goingn to create snapshots and etc as I went, but that's really more of a pain than anything.

Good idea! Snapshots is not a bad idea at all. Just dont have snapshots for your DC's and Certificate Services servers. You will screw your lab environment completely. Dont ask me how I know icon_wink.gif

Get one server fully patched then sysprep it and start cloning it to create all the rest of them. It will save you a lot of time plus if you feel you need to start over from scratch you can always redeploy that image. Of course if your virtualization host supports templates that will make it all the easier.
