Concerns about finding a job

Hello, I just found this forum while looking up WGU. i just signed up for WGU and will be starting a BS-IT Security degree. I am a college student who has no certs. At my JC prior to WGU, I took courses in CCNA but haven't earned enough money to take the test. Anyways, long story short, I am assuming it is because I have no certs, but for all the jobs I've applied to (every one on craigslist) I get no call backs from the one that don't have contact information and the ones I contact seem uninterested. Now I've read all the stickies here and it seems I need to make corrections to my Resume, but do you all think, from what little you've read, that I would be better off to wait a few months so I get my first cert or is it worth to continue applying? I currently have a retail job that's bringing in enough money, but really want to move up asap. "Up" to me, is anything in the tech field...as long as it's not retail anymore.
On another note, I hope to be active in these forums as much as I can. I will certainly post my experiences in WGU as I gather some.

1. Dont stop applying for jobs. What's the guarantee that you'll get a job after the cert?
2. Have you considered the A+, might get you that entry level job quicker.
You should post up your resume up as well, there are plenty of threads on these forums for resume critiques. I would really help you if you read those threads, edited your resume accordingly and then posted up on here for a critique. And stick to these forums, mighty helpful people around and one of the main reasons why I am at the current stage in my career.
Good luck with whatever you do! -

1. I wasn't looking for any sort of guarantee, I understand I could be the best in the world and not have a guarantee, merely improved chances.
2. I have considered the A+ actually, and have started reading some books and watching some videos however that will actually be my (assumed) first cert from WGU. It would at the very least be among the first. So I look forward to getting that.
and Thanks for the tip. I noticed some resume threads but didn't realize I could actually post my own and get critiqued. I can't wait for it to get slaughtered. Only good can come from that. I certainly have a lot to learn and even if i'm not posting will still be around reading. I definitely have plenty of browsing to do on this forum.2013 Goals: [x] Sec+ [x] CCNA []Proj+ []OSCP

joeykeis Member Posts: 15 ■□□□□□□□□□Definitely do not stop applying, also however look at A+ and maybe Net+..
Here's an example, in a two month period I applied to over 40 jobs and only got a callback from from two companies.. One did a phone interview with no follow up, and the other which is a Defense contractor gave me an in person interview and hired me on the spot..So in other words dont stop applying but use this time to improve your marketability, with things such as the A+
