Hey Guys,
I just purchased a used 2600XM router so I can add it to my network and start using it for study purposes. The issue I am having is that I don't seem to have any serial connections on any of my 4 computers at home. Seems pretty strange but all that came with the router is a console cable with a serial connector at one end and RJ-45 on the other.
I was wondering if I was to make a crossover cable and use it on the FastEthernet port on the router and plug the other end into a free port on my CISCO broadband modem would it get assigned an IP address automatically? And then with that IP address could I telnet into the router using putty and still access the IOS and command line?
Thanks in advance.

Cheers. -

Good luck with your studies. -

I used Putty instead of Hyperterminal.
