CEH pointless outside of government circle?

I want to hack or do forensics. I don't want to secure a network. As far as I know, doing either in a practical sense must be done for the government. Now I do hold a clearance, but the level of effective clearance that I hold is not high enough to hack for the government and I do not know if higher clearances are attainable in my case.

Can I accomplish the above 2 goals and work for the private sector?

Thanks

Sure. The CEH isn't as valuable outside of the government sector, but it is a stepping stone to other certifications, like LPT.

This response is leading me in the right direction....penetration testing. I am allowed to do that outside of the government and have seen forensics positions for the financial sector.

    Thanks
