Was wondering how to get into a management I.T role?

Like what is a junior I.T management role?

I am still a solider (engineer) was wondering what I could do to gain some skills which will help me to get a manager position in the future?

Also do you need to have a certain amount of experience before you could gain a management I.T role?

Also do you need a degree? Is it mandatory?

If you want to get into Management then you need experience and a proven skillset. That's the first priority. Management will come later. Is there a certain amount of experience? I've never seen a manager with 0 yrs of experience, most have 5-10yrs prior to moving onto management roles. You're first management position is usually a Shift Supervisor which can lead to Team Lead or Manager position. As for a degree... not required, but you better have a lot of experience in lieu of it. If you're new to IT in general and have your goals on management, then you may want to highly consider getting that degree. It will come in handy.
