So what's a good path to developing my IPT knowledge?

Does anyone have suggestions on certification paths or books to build up good base of general IPT knowledge?

Basically at work, I'll be involved with a big IPT migration next year (from Nortel TDM to IPC & Avaya IPT) and was wondering how useful knowledge gained in study for CCNA-V and even CVOICE might be to this project. BTW, I won't be doing actual configurations, but I should have good familiarity with all the concepts and system components.

I hear CCNA: V is a good cert to go after. I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm in the IPT field however I dont hold a CCNA yet - and quite frankly not interested. Wish there were more of a vendor neutral track out there.
