DR/BC/CP What's the difference?

Hi all.

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but I'm looking for some clarification between these different documents.

What's the difference and similarities (if any) between a Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and Contingency Plan?

I see it all the time and some of the explanations found in most technical or certification books are a bit cryptic. What do I call something if I'm doing (fill in the blank)?

Backup and Recovery Procedures (DR?)
Response to Major Catastrophe (CP?)
Hot/Warm Site Selection and Implementation (BC?)

Thank you for your help guys and gals. ^_^

Disaster recovery would be how you bring your environment back to normal operation after an event.

Continuity is basically how do you continue to operate during a disaster. It's usually essential services/people only aka at HOT sites.

CP is usually the same as your BCP.

You can write a whole book on each specific subject but at the end of the day you just need continuity and recovery aka during and after.
