CEH tools

Hi Guys,
reading through my CEH book (study guide by kimberley graves) - do I need to run all the tools or just have an idea of the concept?

its quite a lot of tools and no doubt these will be outdated so im not sure here.

can anyone who has taken the exam and has real world experience please let me know.

Yes, you should try to run and use all the tools included in the cert and with all options, you should build a lab, there are many live cd's and pre configured targerts like metasploitable etc that you can run attacks against, to become truly proficent at something you absolutley need hands on experience.

Great, downloading a torrent of metasploitable.

Should I be setting up some VM's to test with or should the above be sufficient?
