how to reinstall defrag tool

I was playing around with some NTFS permissions and now my degrag tool says its uninstalled. I really cant rememeber how it happened. Any ideas how to get it back?

Are you referring to the gui version or the command-line defrag? In case of the latter, check if defrag.exe still exists. If not, you can extract it from the installation CD. In case of the gui version, can you add the defrag snap-in in a management console (mmc command)? You can also try running the System File Checker (SFC.exe, i.e. sfc /scannow).

Always be careful when changing permissions on system files
