Alright. Today I finally had an interview with an IT firm, Robert Half Technology. The interview went really smoothly and I scored high on their "assessment" test. A lot of the questions were kind of old school, so I thought it was out of date until I got toward the end where it dealt with more recent technologies. I guess the main thing I have to pass is my references.
I guess my resume was messed up before. This is the first week I'm finally getting calls for phone and face-to-face interviews! Even got some calls that I'm not even qualified for. Since I went to a two year tech school in 2003, I put details about the school in there, so one of them thought I had engineering experience. It was nice to get the call at least. It makes me want to pick up books and refresh my memory about AC/DC circuits, microprocessors, and the like...but it's been since 2003 since I touched any of that kind of stuff. I'm afraid I've forgotten most of it, or that it's not relevant in today's world.
In any case, getting calls is a definite confidant boost! McDonalds was starting to look good.

It was a two part interview: one between the lead tech guy, asking me what "ethernet" was, what's an "application", what is a cat5 cable, etc. The other was with the human resources manager. Just to make sure I had good people skills and that I would stay with them since most of their employees they have a high retention rate. Then they gave me a customer service exam and data entry on a computer. Scored high on the customer service stuff, and had left them shocked when I finished the data entry test in almost a minute with 100% accuracy. I think this job is mine!!!
