Do you know good web developer company?

Two of my friends have started a consulting firm and they were asking me about website development. I'm not a website pro, but have built open source systems, Drupal, Joomla, and various forums. I told them to begin with I can build them via open source (and for free), but they want to go with a company.

Honestly, I can't trust sites that come up via google search, so wondering if you have had direct experience with a company that is not too expensive and not a one-man company.

Heh...I was going to suggest a highschool classmate who does websites. He is also a professor in graphic design at a college around here.
