Don't look at it as a job; look at it as an internship. That's exactly what this is...
If I weren't so concerned about money, or family, I would love this "internship." Whoever gets that gig will (presumably) see a much better gig in the future. Hawking will need a young person for this....but a very smart young person though compared to Hawking, we're all a bunch of dumb---es. LOL. -

I think that's a fair price.
If it were more, he might only get people interested in the money and not his mission. At $39K, he'll likely get someone ready to do just about anything and the experience as mentioned will be amazing long-term. So, yeah, If I weren't married, I'd probably seriously consider it.Plantwiz
