Net+ as credit
Quick questions:
Does the Net+ count as credit towards other certs such as Cisco and Microsoft?
Does the Net+ automatically get you other certs in the same way the Linux+ automatically gets you a few Novell certs?
thanks!

Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModIt used to be that you could use the A+ and Network+ together as an elective towards MCSA, and Security+ could be used as an elective for both MCSA and MCSE. However, none of the current Microsoft certifications accept certifications from other vendors as credit. As far as I know, there are no Cisco certification paths that accept any non-Cisco certs for credit.
It doesn't look like CompTIA has any agreements with other vendors for the Network+. The situation with the Linux+ certification is that CompTIA calls it CompTIA Linux+ Powered by LPI now, which is most likely a requirement for their partnership with LPI and Novell. If any other agreements with other vendors should come up, you'll hear about it on the CompTIA website or in their newsletter.

Other than MCSA, I'm not aware of any other certifications for which Net+ counts towards anything. WGU and potentially other colleges will take it as credit.
I thought the MCSA elective path made sense, and I wish Microsoft and other vendors did that more. On the other hand, there is a pretty limited set of exams and certification paths that have enough overlap to justify that. -
