'reason' field on restart box

When we shutdown or restart the W2003 server there is a field to enter the reason why in the 'shutdown event tracker'

I assume its to aid troubleshooting somewhere down the line but where do you get to see the list or view this information?

Yes , that is why it is there so an event can be recorded.
