A question i encountered:

Which of the follow describes the critical path?

A: The path that contains the riskiest project activities
B: Path in the project network diagram with the most important activities
C: Path in the project network diagram that reveals the earliest date the project can be completed
D: Its the one path with the least amount of float.

The answer given is C.
Why is that so?
I read that critical path is the longest path through the project. If it reveals the earliest date, should it be the shortest path?

Thanks

Well technically that is correct. The project cannot be completed until the last path has been met. So the earliest a project can be completed is the critical path.

In other words the critical path is the longest duration path through a network diagram and determines the shortest time it could take to complete the project.
