I'm just reviewing the WAN chapter in CCENT study guide (Todd Lammle) and one his notes says
"PPP and ATM can be configured on an asynchronous serial connection. HDLC and Frame Relay cannot."
I thought asynchronous serial is part of a circuit switched network i.e ISDN so I'm trying to figure out how that sentences relates..

Todd Burrell Member Posts: 280I believe this is trying to say that ATM and PPP can be synch/asynch but HDLC and Frame Relay can only be done on a synch link. I seem to remember one of the differences in PPP and HDLC was that PPP can be done across an asynch link.
