Hi All,
I m currently at the second year of my bachelors and am planning to join SANS MSISE program. It seems to be very much focused since the curriculum is mainly composed of GIAC certs. But the thing that is pricking my mind is it is not a traditional brick and mortar college.
So would it be better to join a conventional college (NSA Center of Academic Excellence) and do the GIAC certs later or join SANS MSISE?
I m heavily confused about this. Please help me.
Thanks for your time and advice.:D
Regards,
John.

Let me first say that I greatly respect SANS, and believe that the program would be great. That being said, I won't attend an institution that is not yet accredited. I'm sure they will be with time, but they are not at this time.

Thanks for the tip. One other thing I noticed with the GIAC certs is that they are very expensive. Are they worth for their cash? -

I agree Veritas...no accredition...no go! I looked at the SANS program when comparing MSIS programs. I love SANS, but their program was very EXPENSIVE."Something feels funny, I must be thinking too hard. - Pooh" -

Depends on who is it paying for it
If it's my boss than yes it's worth it. If not, then probably not. -
forestgiant Member Posts: 153Sans puts up some valuable articles and guidelines on its site, but its certification process is so uncompetitive, paranoid, and conceited. I appreciate having Sans' resources and would support it in many ways, but the cert process needs a serious revamp. Someone high up at Sans should think long and hard about what they consider is prestige by charging big $.
