WGU Degree Choice: What Would You Do?

So, here's my situation and hoping some of you guys can help me decide.

I am currently enrolled in WGU: IT Security: I currently have 70 credits to graduate (not counting my current classes)

I was browsing through, WGU: IT degree and based on what I see, I may need only have 59 credits.
Possibly Less??
Example: Since I have Intro to Programming completed, would they give me Software Development Fundamentals?

So should I stay with IT: Security 70 Credits - Not only is it more credits, I think it's harder and would take me longer in terms of semesters) I would say this would take me another 3 semesters.

Or should I go WGU: IT: 59 Credits, (classes "seems" easier more in light with my current job) in which I could finish is 2 semesters?

With my 2nd choice I would also save $3000.00 in which I could use toward MSISA.

Your Opinions Are Greatly Appreciated.

Thank
-C

Unless you earned the cert prior to enrolling, no they will not give you credit. I don't remember which certs transfer for that one.

Ahh, either an MS Developer cert or a Sun Java Developer cert. So the MCSE and ITIL certs you have listed wouldn't cover it.

I have to agree with swild; I don't think you'll get Software Fundamentals.

Having said that, since Security is your current emphasis, that means you have to contend with the CCNA. Many people spend a good six months (give or take a month) on that cert alone. That was my primary reason why I wanted no part in security (I did not want to spend X amount on gear.....I want to get a CCNA for enjoyment one day. :) )

The regular IT degree might/might not give you issue, but the programming seems pretty straightforward. I probably would have gotten more out of that degree since I deal with front-ends and SQL at my day job then the MCITP:EA (though I should have had a MCSE years ago.... :) ).

You might have the same amount of credits for the regular IT degree, but that doesn't mean you can't finish the courses faster than if you had to contend with the CCNA...that cert is not cute. It's doable, but not cute [easy].

With the software development I am still looking at

59 CU vs 70 CU (and thats with CCNA Cert to do) - At this point I just want my degree, chill for a bit and attempt the Security Path later.
