Need advice for the future

Hi,
I am currently having trouble deciding my future, as I want to be in the IT field. Currently, I work in a warehouse facility for 6 years while going to school trying to get my bachelor degree in Computer Information System. I will be getting my degree by the end of this semester. I have my A+, CCENT, and now aiming for the CCNA.
The job I do in the warehouse does not relate to anything IT. I have no prior work experience to IT.
I feel attached to this company and hoping to move away from the warehouse and do something IT related. I talked to my warehouse manager and he mentioned something about a position that the corporate is putting together a team. The team would be traveling around the states to other warehouse facility implementing a new warehouse OS system for each facility. Now the bad thing is I still have to wait for a posting for this position, which is sometime in May and not even sure if I will get the position. I don't even know what the job description of this position and base on it from my warehouse manager idea.
What I want help from is deciding if I should even bother with this position, which probably does not relate to my networking field. I have been with the company for 6 years and want to grow with the company doing network. The company does not seem to have a strong position toward IT since the company deals heavily with office supplies.
Should I continue down this road and hope I get lucky and land a IT position, or move toward searching for an entry level IT position somewhere else.
I have already applied to one IT level entry position, which pays less than what I make at my current warehouse position. What is everyone opinion on getting a pay cut to move toward IT?
Please give me guidance.

It sounds like a lot of waiting and ifs. I'm not a fan of putting all my eggs into one basket, it tends to backfire. In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.
