A little over the top but as a father it's still pretty gratifying.
I can understand why it may seem over the top. If you read the updates on his Facebook page, it explains things in a bit more detail. She'd previously been punished for something similar and had been told exactly what would happen if it happened again.
I applaud the father for having the courage of his convictions. It would have been easy to cop out and just take the laptop away, or sell it, or whatever. This way, well, there's no way in hell that his daughter will ever doubt that he means what he says ever again, and that's the important thing.
