difference between multiplexing and multiple access methods...
antennaboy35
Hello Forum,
I am clear on what multiplexing is: many users share a same medium via a multiplexer.
How is multiple access different from multiplexing? They seem very similar to me....
For example, TDM versus TDMA?
thanks

When I hear "multiplexer" I think of a T1 bond where you have two completely separate lines which are bonded (or multiplexed) to give you the aggregate bandwidth of both.
TDMA is a protocol used in Satellite and Cellular communications - it is "2G" or whatever.

Two types of combining signals are:
–
Multiplexing - combining signals from the same sources
–
Multiple-access - combining signals from multiple sources
