If you search TE you will find a lot of individuals asking the same question. The general consensus is no. If you have a year of security experience pursue the SSCP from ISC(2) instead. Honestly I just don't see the use in going for the certification. -

I wish I would have got in on the Beta, but no way will I pay for it. If it sticks around for 5 or 10 years, it may gain traction but as of now ISC2 is king.
(ISC)2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) | SC
Both the SSCP and CISSP have renown.
CompTIA doesn't even make a showing in the finalist list. -

I think it might have a place one day in the security professional's roadmap. For now, though, it's basically a waste of money. SSCP is a far more logical choice, and if you can't meet the one year's experience, you probably shouldn't be going for a cert of this level anyway. -

The topics it covers look quite good.
I guess for learning it wouldnt be bad to buy the materials.
I dont have SSCP or CISSP
But I do know CISSP has a lot of weight when it comes to securitymeh
