Hey everyone,
I am working on my VCP, hoping to finish it by July. Just looking for general input on books or CBTs etc that you think could help?
Background -
I have about 5 years experience on and off with both VMware and XenServer. So I am completely comfortable with virtualization concepts and design for medium sized and smaller data centers.
1) I just finished the CBTnuggets for vSphere 5 (covers maybe 30% of VCP at best)
2) TrainSignal PowerCLI series (not good)
3) I just finished the Vmware Implementation bootcamp (misses the VCP mark big time, but at least I can take the exam now)
4) My lab is pretty good from my MCITP and Linux+ labs, so I have no lack of servers and I am using OpenFiler on older server for a SAN. I also have the virtual storage appliance.
So to those have passed LEGITIMATELY, what additional studies and resources would you recommend.

All of them. Seriously, pretty much anything relating to vSphere 5 is fair game on the actual test. Or any of VMware's current product line for that matter - you might even see a Worksation/Fusion question."Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible; suddenly, you are doing the impossible." - St. Francis of Assisi -
scott28tt Member Posts: 686 ■■■■■□□□□□So I assume point 3 on your list was one of the official vSphere 5 training courses - either vSphere: Install Configure Manage or vSphere: Fast Track? There's a whole set of VCP5 posts on my blog which will point you at the key official and unofficial resources: VMware Training and CertificationVCP2 / VCP3 / VCP4 / VCP5 / VCAP4-DCA / VCI / vExpert 2010-2012

undomiel Member Posts: 2,818I'll chime in my support for reading the whitepapers as well. Those were definitely the missing component from my studies.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/
