Domain name change possible? W2k3 & Exchange servers
Is it possible to change your domain name on a W2k3 and exchange server? Domain name, emails (@newname.com), ect.
If it is possible is it something worth doing? or would it be extremely complicated?
I'm not sure why higher ups want this done. Our current name fits us well and its well established, been using it for over 8 years. However, until we can talk them out of it its something I have to look into.

You want to talk them out of it? Simply print out the instructions on how it is done.
Having been though this myself, it simply isn't worth the hassle. Best thing to do is purchase another domain name, buy a certificate and add it as a trusted domain and add the aliases to your exchange server. Granted it is more involved than that, but completely migrating is a LOT more complex. -

And this is what I was intending when I said easier, just to be clear. -

Thanks for the collaborative effort!!!
BobbyDC...I hope we answered your question. Honestly, unless you have done this before, it can get kind of hairy. Primary reason most people opt for an alternative solution. Just the time involved in doing this isn't really cost effective.
The only way it becomes feasible is if you are going to upgrade your AD Domain to 2008 Functional Level at which point you would have to add new DCs, form a trust between the two domains, and then migrate from one side to the other. Exchange isn't too bad though...as I said before, just a matter of buying a new cert, added a new trust for incoming/outgoing mail and adding the alias. THat method is very common. Let us know if you need anything else.
