Interesting...I don't really see a need for another "newcomer" Linux cert. I don't know how much more basic you can get than Linux+.

Understandable but why would you want to spend money on a certification to show you can turn on a Linux machine and possible know basic commands (ps,cd, cat)? Almost no employer's ask for the Linux+, so I don't know why an individual would pay for a certification lower that the Linux+.
