Issues configuring HA

EssendonEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■

Awright guys, I blew away my lab and rebuilt it. Now for the life of me, I dont seem to be able to configure HA. See how it says Master: no master. Appears to me that vCenter doesnt know that HA has been configured and there's a new master. Funny still, there are no reported issues!

My lab:

1. Physical ESXi host
2. 2 virtual ESXi hosts and a virtual vCenter server. No AD (I know I should have a DC, but I dont have enough RAM to have another VM)
3. Starwind iSCSI SAN installed on the vCenter server, so that my virtual hosts can access shared storage.

Both hosts have 2 shared datastores. Now I have deleted the HA cluster, readded hosts, readded datastores, did extensive Google-fu, but looks like no one has had such an issue. I shouldnt have blown away my previous lab I guess! Help please.

Did you already add the hosts to the cluster? I only ask because the cluster resources show 0 for both CPU and RAM resources.

Edit: Took a second look and it definitely looks like a cluster issue and not an HA issue. Your screenshot shows 0 hosts in cluster. Make sure you've added the hosts to the cluster and not just to vCenter.

That was it! Silly me, created the cluster but didnt drag 'em hosts up to the cluster. Goes to show you need to have had enough sleep.

Thanks meadIT, and that's a very impressive array of certs you have!
