Comptia and LPIC are two different companies but you can obtain both certifications by passing the Linux+ but not the other way around and just passing the LPIC-1.

Are you new to Linux? Do you have a couple years under your belt? It all depends on the person but yes "someone" can pass the Linux+ in 2 weeks but most people take 1-2 months.

Download an ISO image from Fedora, Ubuntu, CentOS, Mint, or Arch..put that bad boy into a VM and mess around with it.

Are you sure? because LPIC-1 is harder, and more valued than Linux+?

Yes I am positive, there's even a thread in the Linux+ section stating you get 4 certifications for passing the Linux+ (Linux+, LPIC-1, and Novell certs; You just have to register with the companies.) . Try googling it icon_thumright.gif
