Studying for what cert, improved your skills/knowledge the most?

Like you all, I enjoy learning, and I enjoy the reward of a certification at the end of it all. But improving one's self and gaining practical knowledge is really where it is at. So with that said I am curious what the forum's consensus is on this question... Which certification did you feel improved your technical skills/knowledge the most by studying/doing labs for it?

Thanks!

GCIA is the first that comes to my mind.

I took the CEH but it was the last version so I gained a fundamental foundation of what is involved. The processes more than the specific tools used.

The CISSP helps me know for a high level understanding.

I'd say Security+ laid the best foundation for knowledge that could be applied to future studies.

Security+ help me a lot to introduce in the security arena, after that exam, every time I configured a server i always think in security. Just begin with something, the certifications will build up your knowledge.

Any of the CompTIA+ exams make excellent overall foundations in IT. From there its more of a matter of applying the basics and building on those skills. Continuous learning, slow and steady is your overall best approach.

GCIH... period. The CISSP was good for policy... the CEH was good for learning about toolz... but the GCIH was inside out... the most in depth...and helpful.
