1550nm transceivers and multi-mode fiber
m4rtin
According to
Cisco Small Form-Factor Pluggable Modules for Gigabit Ethernet Applications Data Sheet
, 1310nm
1000BASE-LX/LH
transceivers work fine with 62.5/125µm(OM1) and 50/125µm(OM[234]) multi-mode cables. However, which distances might one expect in practice? According to Cisco one might expect 550m when using 1310nm 1000BASE-LX/LH trasnceivers. In addition, has anyone seen a paper/article which exactly explains why 1000BASE-ZX(1550nm) transceivers do not work with multi-mode fiber(it's probably because of total internal reflection)?
