CISSP Audio for Reasonable Price
Hi Guys! I'm having a hard time getting into the reading of an AIO book (although I'm making a petty valid attempt to keep going with it).
I've seen a couple threads on here talking about audio solutions. One that seems to be highly recommended is the Shon Harris audio series (on her site for 300 bucks).
Does anyone have expirence with this? Amazon.com: 2012 CISSP All-in-One; Comprehensive 5 Hour, 5 Audio CD set, CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional Review Course: Edward Kanecki, Susan Hasse, Kenneth Aber, Vicky Ragen: Books
It's less than half the price and it had a couple good reveiws on Amazon. I don't mind parting with the $300 if the Shon Harris audio is really the best. I just need something to help me supplement and really spend more time on this stuff. Listening on iPod at the gym would be great for me.

Thanks - there are still some videos on there that I can probably download and get on audio somehow myself. I didn't find any MP3s directly on there, but I'll dig around a little more. I'm thinking about just ponying up the 300 bucks, because I'd really like to have a complete set of the audio.
I assume this is probably "the best" audio series out there?

joedain Member Posts: 25 ■□□□□□□□□□I will share my experience with audio studies.
I was provided with a lot of study material from Quickcert, paid for by the ARMY as part of 8570 pilot program in 2009. This included a 160 GIG IPOD with 140 GIGs of training videos. I have listen to the CISSP videos/audio 3 times now, and I can say it has helped me so much.
I drive about 25 minutes to work a day, so that provides me with nearly 1 hour of dedicated study time. Listening to this over and over...over a period of about 1 time a month for 3 months keeps it all fresh in my mind while I am studying my book and other CBTs.
I would recommend this for anyone with a lengthy drive. -

CrazyAL Member Posts: 7 ■□□□□□□□□□Thanks guys. You typically get what you pay for, but for 29 bucks on the learnsmart deal, it would be pretty hard to get upset if it wasn't great.
Appreciate the Quickcert info as well. There are no prices on their website, so that is probably not good, but I might give them a call tomorrow. -
bryguy Member Posts: 190Tell you what I did- I puchased the AOI book and the official CBK on my amazon kindle, and then used the text-to-speech feature on it's fastest setting. Listening to and from work, I got in about 80 minutes, 5 days a week to and from work on my daily commute. I went through both books half a dozen times over the 3 month period that I studied using that method alone. By the end of the three month period, I could nearly recite the chapters verbatim. Good luck in your studies!

The Shon Harris lectures on MP3 are still available for free. I have the link at home. When I get off work later this evening, I will find the link and post it here. -

CrazyAL Member Posts: 7 ■□□□□□□□□□Thanks again guys. Very helpful info!
Edit: I listed to some of the free Harris mp3s last night. They are great thanks again. I guess the ones they have for sale for 300 bucks on the site must be the "latest and greatest". These free ones might be a little old, but the content seems really good to me. It's a great start for sure. -
dmoore44 Member Posts: 646The content of those free mp3's is really good - I listened to them on the way to and from work every day for about 3 months. The good thing about those Shon Harris lectures is this: she's a pretty decent presenter. The people that Learn Smart uses are about as dry and monotonous as they come.Graduated Carnegie Mellon University MSIT: Information Security & Assurance Currently Reading Books on TensorFlow
