Aging/Scavenging pls help....

Pls help I dont get technets explanation...

Say I have a dns zone where I need to set a scavenging period to 1 day.
How do I do it?
Will it work just by setting that option in the advanced tab of the servers properties, or will i also have to configure aging/scavenging for the zone.
If so do i set the "no-refresh" & "refresh" interval to 12 hrs a piece or 1 day a piece?

any input would be appreciated.
