Shared calendar and "bucket" list

My parents need a solution and I am a bit stuck.

Basically they need a shared calendar where both can note their shifts and other dates. But in addition they both need a to-do list which is visible to both but showing three options ... "mum" ; "dad" ; "both" ..

The idea behind that is if "mum" wants to do something, she puts it on her side .. If dad wants something, he puts it on his side. Both can see either side an a shared side which can be used to move tasks over. For example mum wants to go to Paris and puts it on her list. Dad sees the list and wants to do that too - so he moves it to the "both" list...

Both have iPhones so it would be nice to be able to sync that but it certainly isn't essential.

Now people suggest google calendar, which seems to do the calendar bit, but not really the to-do list bit (not the way we intend to use it anyway).

Can anyone think of any solution ?

I was under the impression that Google Calendar had a task gadget. I don't use Google Calendar but perhaps the tasks gadget could fit your need.

If you want something more hard-core, as I recall, @forsaken_ga runs the OTRS ticketing system for managing the to-do list for his family icon_lol.gif - We use a dry-erase white-board at my house.

Maybe do a bit of reading and write a little script yourself. It wouldn't be really complex.

If they both have iPhones they can use the "Reminders" on their phones to keep up with the to-do lists, check this link out

Thanks, but we aren't talking about "normal" reminder. Like I say - those are more like "bucket list" style stuff. Stuff which is on "the list" to do in the future and not at a specific day / month

I created a notepad page on my iPhone of things my wife and I want to do. Didn't share it, but if they both don't have iCloud, set up 1 account and have it only share Calendar and Notes and leave it at that. It should work on both phones. If you share a calendar, then each could have a Colour assigned to their name, So Red for Mum, and green for Dad, and then the rest of the colours depending on the item, Orange for Overseas Trip, etc.

Actually we went with Cozi at the end. They also have a very nice iPhone app which works ecaxtly as we want. Only downside was that we had to do a bit of a trickery in order to download the app as it is only available in the US store - but that just slowed us down by about 2 minutes ;)

But yea - Cozi is "brilliant" - not just calendar, to-do lists, but shopping lists and so on .. worth looking into if you look for something... Whilst google does the trick - it is quite basic, especially if you don't want to use the desktop "version" ..

Thanks for all the suggestions though ...

    Buy a calendar
    glue it to the fridge
blue marker for dad (or pink if he swings that way)
    pink for mom
    green for both

you write dates/tasks with different color depending

    done
    meh
