Do you think Cisco switches and routers will fit into it? I can pick this item up and made a local offer to see if he would knock off some money if I came with cash for pickup.

Yes, Cisco gear should fit with no problem (standard 19” spacing). The only problem with using a server rack exclusively for network gear is that the server racks tend to be excessively deep (and end up taking up a ton more space).

Also - some of these server racks tend to be quite heavy so you may need extra help to muscle it around if you are planning to put it in your home.

BTW - I think most people on TE use Skeletek racks instead of cabinets for home labs. It's probably about the same price - http://www.dantraknet.com/

It's between that and the 12u from skeletek. I love the idea of having it closed up, I think it looks nicer.

I sent dank a message on eBay to see if he could swap out the router mounting brackets that come with the auction for switch ones. If he says yes I'll swing toward his auction.

Yeah - I know what you mean. I would have got a cabinet instead if I could have got one up into my office.

BTW - You may want to ask the eBay seller if that cabinet uses EIA square holes. I couldn't tell from the picture.

12U Skeletek is really small, try to get 16U if you can afford it. Also depends on how much gear you plan on getting.

+1 on this. Skeletek is a very good brand. Their racks are awesome and very sturdy. You won't be disappointed. I'm thinking of getting another 16u before the end of the year.

they had lots of very cool racks.
