no auto summary command with rip

Well if you are using Rip version 2 , which is classless routing protocol and can be used with VLSM , then we have to also write "no auto summary" command so that sub net masks using VLSM may not be confused by routers.

    RIPv2 will handle VLSM just fine with or without "no auto-summary". The command actually becomes essential when you introduce discontigous networks, whether or not VLSM is involved.

    When one classful network has to go through a different classful network (class B must pass through an A to talk to another B)
