no auto summary command with rip

Well if you are using Rip version 2 , which is classless routing protocol and can be used with VLSM , then we have to also write "no auto summary" command so that sub net masks using VLSM may not be confused by routers.

NetworkVeteran Member Posts: 2,338 ■■■■■■■■□□RIPv2 will handle VLSM just fine with or without "no auto-summary". The command actually becomes essential when you introduce discontigous networks, whether or not VLSM is involved.

what is a "discontigous" network .. also kindly xplain a bit ...thanks.. -
