switchport question

This may be a silly question

I have a switch with a populated mac-address

I just activated swtichport security with a max attempt 1 on one of the interfaces.

Then I just plugged a terminal to this interface.

My question: will it learn the mac-address of this interface put it in the mac-add-table and associate this mac-add as the only permissable user of this interface?

Without seeing the config, yes, it sounds like you are correct.

Confirm this with: show port-security int fax/x

If you want it to be the only allowable MAC address, you'll need to make it sticky. Setting it to max 1 just says only 1 MAC at a time on the port (IP phone and computer plugged into the port would be 2 MACs / a 4-port hub could have 4 devices).
