Just wanted to take a moment to thank the author of 'Security + Get Certified, Get Ahead'.
I actually enjoyed reading this book. It is put together well, and you encourage thinking through and understanding the topic at hand. As such, I took the test within 2 weeks of receiving it in the mail. I was able to score relatively high, I will not post score as it is a pass/fail exam.
I thank you, it will enable me to switch back into the IT field after a number of years being away from it.
Thanks also to those that were brave enough to post questions and those gracious enough to take time to explain them.

I have played around with the idea, but something always takes me in another direction. I don't see it happening in the foreseable future. -

Congrats on your Pass! I am trying to get ready for my test as well and have a couple of questions.
Do Barnes & Noble carry the book? They didn't seem to carry Darril Gibson's. Also, what difference
would it make on different editions? And how often do they update the book and the actual test if you know.

Welcome to the forums. The CompTIA Security+: Get Certified Get Ahead: SY0-301 Study Guide is available on the Barnes and Noble web site:
BARNES & NOBLE | CompTIA Security+: Get Certified Get Ahead: SY0-301 Study Guide by Darril Gibson | Paperback
However, it is not in their stores. As a self-published book, it is difficult to get a book into an actual bricks and mortar store.
This page (Get Certified Get Ahead | Security+ SY0-201 and SY0-301 Differences) talks about differences between the Security+ recent versions but the only current version is SY0-301. SY0-201 is retired.
The exam is updated about every three years by CompTIA and I've been updating the book to match CompTIA updates. I've been asked to keep the 201 version available because it is available for free on Kindle to people that subscribe to Amazon Prime but the 301 version is the best book to study if you plan on taking the 301 exam.
