Split Brain Syndrom

I'm having trouble clarifying Split-Brain DNS. I think I have it, but hoping someone here can help me clarify.

Is Split-Brain DNS using the same namespace for the organization, such as contoso.com for both internal and external? Or is Split-Brain DNS using different namespaces for the organization, such as contoso.com for external and contoso.loc for internal?

You can use both, some pro's and cons for both the methods which are called split brain DNS. Advantage of having same names will be certificates, AD FS Internet will be easier to implement. Advantage of having different DNS Namespace will primarily be security related.
