scoobydoo129 Member Posts: 1 ■□□□□□□□□□I borrowed cbt nuggets from some one and passed the 2000 server exam. CBT is really good, because the guy in te video is very good in cutting up the topic and explaining the subject to you.
If it is really cheap I would certainly go for it.
BTW. I could use them as well, so if you have an ftp......... -
woodworm Member Posts: 153I am currently using the 290 Nuggett. I feel they are very good because I am more likely to remember things I have seen on that video than reading the same thing out of a book (several times I have thought to myself "that is what the book is on about!!").
But I don't think they go in to nearly enough depth by themselves, and as always, a good second source of material is essential.
And no copying your disks either - it's a good way to get 'moderated'!! -
mwgood Member Posts: 293I have several CBT video series.
Generally, I find them an excellent tool for a jumpstart on whatever topic you are studying. They also make great refreshers for particular topics. I also agree with a prior post that said they don't go "enough" in depth by themselves. They are intended to be "nuggets" or essentials - not completely comprehensive.
They are also extremely useful for training purposes - even if you don't plan to get certified in a particular area - say for example you want to know a lot about wireless networking, yet don't want to take the CWNA exam - the videos allow you to get up to whatever speed you want go, without ever cracking open a book.
Watching the videos is darn close to (but not quite) "hands on" since you are able to watch how it's done while the content is presented to you - so it's well worth the money.
Another thing to consider is that some CBT Nuggets series go into more depth than others - for example, the CCNA series is VERY in depth, while the BSCI section of the CCNP isn't nearly as in depth.
Personally, I always use several sources - since redundancy doesn't hurt and having multiple sources gives you a good idea of the scope of an exam.
After a dry spell after getting my CCNA, I've purchased the CCNP and MCSE series - which has definitely helped me get back on track for taking my MCP 70-270 here in a week or two, then the BSCI soon after.
